First period of reactivity how to#
The third goal is to teach the parents and family members how to care for and bond with the new baby. The second goal is to assess and provide nursing care that supports the newborn’s health status.
The first goal is to help the newborn make the transition to extrauterine life. Because numerous physiologic adaptations begin right after birth, immediate nursing care is very important. The immediate care of the newborn takes place in the delivery room and is discussed in Chapter 7. The nursing care of the newborn is directed toward promoting the physical well-being of the baby and supporting the family unit.
